Stottie Sandwich Competition and Demonstrationg
BALTIC, Sat 16 August, from 1.30pm
Come along and see a demonstration of how to make a traditional stottie; learn how to add some Japanese touches to your sandwiches, or you can enter your own favourite homemade stottie sandwich in the competition. The winning sandwiches will be made and sold in the BALTIC Café Sat 23 – Mon 25 August

Japanese Tea Ceremony
MOTHERPLANE, Baltic Square, Sun 17 August, from 12 noon
This is your chance to experience a traditional Japanese teaceremony. Numbers are limited at each ceremony but places are free.

Gourmet Picnic Demonstration
BABYPLANES, Blackfriars, Friars Street, Newcastle, Tue 19 August, 11.30am Tickets £15 pp
Blackfriars chefs will demonstrate how to make a simple, delicious, gourmet picnic. Tickets include a glass of wine and a picnic lunch.

Open discussion

Join us for an open discussion around the importance of public spaces in NewcastleGateshead and the role they play in culture–led regeneration followed by a tasty picnic on the MOTHERPLANE. Tokyo Picnic Club has declared this as ‘Take your picnic to work day’. Grab your picnics and your colleagues and have your lunch outside, in the city centre, on a babyplane.
Storytelling from Seven Stories and Live Music
BABYPLANES, Ouseburn Farm and the Cumberland Arms, Byker, Sat 23 August, from 12 noon – 5pm
Come along to Ouseburn Farm and listen to some wonderful storytelling from Seven Stories. Then climb the hill to the Cumberland Arms and enjoy some great live music.
Picnic Box Decorating Workshop
BALTIC, Sat 23 & Sun 24 August, from 2pm – 4pm
Decorate your very own Tokyo Picnic Club picnic box. Go wild with your imagination and then bring your box and your picnic with you on Monday 25th August to enter in the ‘Picnic of the Year’ competition.
Suitable for children 12 years and under with their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Hampers from the Attic

Spies from Tokyo Picnic Club will be inspecting your picnic, looking for the best picnic hamper and food. The winners will be announced at 4pm and will be awarded a luxury hamper of wonderful local produce.

BALTIC family workshops

From 18 – 22 August, there will be Picnopolis themed family workshops every day in the Quay space in BALTIC. Come along and create your own Motherplane from Megablocks; make the best
paper plane ever or just enjoy some time playing in the Quay space.
Suitable for children 12 years and under with their families.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
